Description
“An improved and more cost effective GT3 machine.”
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 was based on the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car that was unveiled to the public at the Paris Motor Show in 2014. This FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) homologated GT3 race car appeared on the international motorsports scene?in 2016.
This updated 2020 model was introduced in 2019 with a focus on further reducing running costs as a customer race car. Improvements like a more durable engine and better protection for the radiator through a redesigned front end helped keep the costs of running a GT3 car more affordable for privateers.
The car’s aerodynamics were improved through the addition of a front splitter and winglets, as well as a large wing and diffuser at the rear. The engineers also reduced the car’s weight by using carbon fiber anywhere and everywhere possible.
The lower portion of the front grille was significantly widened, and the front and rear lights were updated. Although it retained the distinctive design of the previous model, many details on the car were updated to match the refreshed production model.
