Description

The TT Cup is a racing car developed by quattro GmbH based on the Audi TT. It is a car made specifically for the one make races started in 2015, the ‘Audi Sport TT Cup’.

The road version of the TT coup? utilises aluminium for the outer panels and the upper part of the frame, but the TT Cup car uses carbon fibre for some of the body shell. By further removing comfort equipment, it is over 100 kg lighter than the lightest commercial model on the market, at 1,125 kg.

The engine is the 2.0-litre TFSI inline 4 used at home in Germany. Power is unchanged at 305 BHP, but in order to make the race more interesting with more overtakes, the car is equipped with a push-to-pass button which temporarily gives an additional 29 BHP for a short period of time. The gearbox is the same 6-speed S tronic shared with the road going car.

The front axles are equipped with an electronically controlled Haldex hydraulic limited slip differential, and the driver can adjust the locking ratio from the cockpit.

Though the ‘Audi Sport TT Cup’ is positioned as an entry level race, the race is sometimes held as an opening race for the DTM. The race has been very popular, and in 2016 there were a total of 125 participating drivers.
